About this item

Step into the Wild West with the 1/2 oz Buffalo Silver Round from the renowned SilverTowne Mint. Struck in 1/2 Troy ounce of .999 pure silver, each round showcases the iconic design featured on the Buffalo Nickel, first introduced over a century ago. The striking Native American image featured on the round was sculpted by the legendary James Earle Fraser in 1913 and was initially used on the Indian Head Nickel. Alongside the portrait of a proud Native American chieftain is the word "Liberty," emphasizing the values and ideals that are at the core of America's cultural heritage. On the other side, a majestic American Bison in profile is featured as it grazes on a small patch of land, conjuring images of the Great Plains and the untamed wilderness of the American West. The buffalo featured in the design was modeled after a real-life bison named Black Diamond, who lived at the Central Park Zoo in New York City during the same era that Fraser was creating the Indian Head Nickel. With its impeccable craftsmanship and attention to detail, the 1/2 oz Buffalo Silver Round is a true collector's item. The phrase "One Troy Ounce" is stamped above the bison, while the purity and metal are stamped below, ensuring that the authenticity and quality of the coin are never in doubt.
