Three Chamber Bat House – Premium Cedar Bat Box (Cedar)

About this item

Three-Chamber Cedar Bat Habitat — Large-Capacity Roost for Hot Climates Handcrafted from solid cedar, this three-chamber habitat holds up to 200 bats. The natural finish reflects heat rather than storing it, keeping the chambers liveable through a hot summer while a full colony works your yard for insects every night. .readmore-section { margin-top: 10px; } .readmore-content { max-height: 100px; overflow: hidden; transition: max-height 0.5s ease; } .readmore-toggle { display: none; } .readmore-toggle:checked ~ .readmore-content { max-height: 2000px; } .readmore-label { display: inline-block; margin-top: 10px; color: #000; border: 1px solid #ccc; padding: 6px 12px; border-radius: 5px; cursor: pointer; transition: all 0.3s ease; } .readmore-label:hover { background: #000; color: #fff; } Three chambers, up to 200 bats. Large colonies need depth and a temperature gradient. Three graduated chambers give bats somewhere cooler to retreat to as the day peaks, instead of one space that overheats. Why natural cedar. Untreated cedar reflects more solar heat than a dark finish and insulates well, which suits regions with long hot summers. If your evenings run cool, the black finish retains warmth and is the better match. Rough-sawn throughout. Every interior face is grooved so bats can climb and hang securely. A smooth interior is the most common reason a habitat stays empty — bats cannot grip it. Ventilated and dry. Ventilation slots move air through all three chambers, which keeps interior temperatures survivable in peak heat and stops moisture collecting after rain. Honest about timing. Bats scout new roosts in spring and take their time. Some habitats fill in year one, others in year two. Height, sun hours and proximity to water matter more than anything else you control — all three are covered below. Handcrafted cedar, built to last. Arrives fully assembled with mounting hardware and the Bat Conservation International siting guide. No expertise required. Read More Mounting your bat house Height: 12–20 ft above the ground — about 15 ft is the usual target. 10 ft is the minimum. Direction: facing south or south-east, for 6–8 hours of direct sun. Mount to: a pole, or high on a wall or barn. Never the trunk of a shade tree. Clearance: keep branches, wires and other predator perches 20–25 ft away. Water: within about a quarter mile of a stream, pond or lake if you can. Pole length is not mounting height. A pole needs to be 16 ft or longer, because roughly 3 ft of it goes in the ground. Full instructions are in the Bat Conservation International guide included with your bat house.
